According to a news story on fortune.com, one of the inventors stated that he knew very little about wheelchairs until knew his daughter needed one.
Now, two brothers have revolutionized motorized wheelchairs making them much safer with their LUCI system that improves wheelchair handling and prevents accidents. The system can be attached to a motorized wheelchair, uses cameras and sensors to see curbs, cats, walls, and other things people who can walk would not worry about.
The LUCI system detects drop-offs and will stop the wheelchair to avoid the chair from flipping over on top of the user. Injuries from those types of falls can cause traumatic brain injuries and other injuries to motorized wheelchair operators.
